The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...I see my Eden climber & Sally Holmes roses blooming
I am thinking...of a long list of things I'd love to do today
I am thankful for...patience in my parenting
From the kitchen...we have fresh oat bread and kale chips
I am wearing...a vest a short sleeve shirt and trousers. Not too warm here today
I am creating...a clean and organized work space in the back
I am going...to spend some time by myself tonight
I am reading...Coop by Michael Perry
I am hoping...that the two weeks go by quickly. I am missing my big girl something fierce!
I am hearing...the sounds and movements of children~next door and closer
Around the house...I see many things to do and opportunities to make things just right for our family
One of my favorite things...roses blooming in my yard
A few plans for the rest of the week: cleaning, cooking, organizing. Finding a home for 3 extra geese

Giada & I make pizza I love pizza. The kids love pizza. EVEN my DH loves pizza. When I first saw this recipe I was resting in the bathroom at my parents house, reading what was then a newer issue of Bon Appetit. I clipped the pages showing Giada in all her glory~pizza, dough, chocolate pizza, and more. You get the picture. (And if not, just take a look at the covers of her cookbooks!) Fast forward several years later. Hungry kids, VERY hot day, barbeque sending out missives of sadness and woe over not being used. Enter Giada. And her pizza dough~among other things....

I've mentioned already the oysters, the beer and the pizza. For my next trick, I will show you the kale chips. And what I have learned. Choosing the freshest of kale is always best, but if you don't have access to kale in your front yard, find some nice quality stuff at the store. My mantra is local-is-better, so better yet, find some at the farmers market. Maybe it will still have the secret ingredient in it, too. Only you will know! Unlike...
